English Teacher – R&B

English Teacher

Leeds-based quartet English Teacher recently released new single ‘R&B’.

‘R&B’ leans in to the post-punk genre with it’s thumping bassline, searing guitars and almost spoken lyrics. At times though the track melds in to a number of genres with shimmering shoegaze-esque guitars, wild crashing drums adding a heavier sound and even a machine gun rhythm that makes you want to hit the floor for safety.

Talking about the track the band had the following to say:

“‘R&B’ is about the cyclical, productivity-diminishing paradox of low self-esteem and imposter syndrome-induced writer’s block that then fuels low self-esteem and imposter syndrome. It’s also about racial identity and putting the love that you have to offer a potential romantic partner back into yourself”.

Overall it’s a song that shows we have another band to get excited about. Now they need a Birmingham tour date!
