Pseudo Cool – Wrong

Pseudo Cool are an alt-indie rock band from Maesteg, South Wales, with a punk edge to their sound. With influences from a range of sources such as Lily Allen, Fontaines D.C and The Clash (which you can really hear in this track), Pseudo Cool are a band whose sound will delight many.

‘Wrong’ is their debut track. According to the band themselves, it’s a contrary pop song created to express the frustrating expectations of 21st century dating and the desperate search which many face to find the one. Created after a post-date interrogation, the song has a frantic pace, a manifestation of the pressure society places on young people to quickly conform to relationship ideals.

One of the thrills of ‘Wrong’ is the previously mentioned speed. It doesn’t let up for the whole 2:11, and at times I felt out-of-breath from its raw energy. The heavy drum beat and punky female vocals remind me of Wolf Alice, and of the indie rock movements of the late 90’s and early 00’s. The band’s organic sound is typical of one at the beginning of a long journey, and ‘Wrong’ is a promising indication that Pseudo Cool could be on the way to success. This is definitely a song which I’ll be listening to over and over again.
