The Pines – It’s Good To Get Lost
‘It’s Good to Get Lost’ is the third single from Birmingham-based indie-rockers, The Pines, and it’s a perfect slice of indie-ulgence.
The band’s latest release thumps into life with a more than catchy bass riff. Crashing guitars and toe-tapping percussion then drive the whole thing forward alongside Cartney Wallington’s welcoming vocal.
Frontman Wallington said about the track “’It’s Good to Get Lost’ explores the themes of escapism, hope and unity, wrapping them up in sonic youthful energy. It serves to highlight the dichotomy of living in a supposedly liberal society only to be burdened by the crushing weight of expectation from those above.”
So, it’s fair to say there’s some mature themes and thought processes behind the tune. It would be crude to label it as just another pleasing indie bop-along. You can tell from the arrangement and striking lyrics some genuine thought has gone into ‘It’s Good to Get Lost’ and in some ways it’s the perfect tune to surmise how we’re all feeling currently.
If you’re anything like me you can’t wait to get back out to gigs again, breathing in the stale sweaty air, sinking over-price beer and feeling the swell that only a thumping bassline can deliver. Well, ‘It’s Good to Get Lost’ is exactly the sort tune I could see myself enjoying in just such an environment.
