Borito – My Kind Of Love
Borito have had enough of adulthood. They’re tired of the grown-up pressures. The compromises. The deadly disappointments. The four-piece from Israel want to throw a comforting blanket of innocence and freedom around you with their music. And it’s hard to resist its charms.
August’s debut single ‘Nice & Slowly’ was a summery slice of dreamy indie-pop with echoes of Saint Etienne and chilled-out dancefloor vibes.
The follow-up, ‘My Kind of Love’, continues their time machine travel to a much less complicated world, driven by Yael Copeland’s woozy guitar and sugary pop vocals. It sounds like Black Box Recorder – Auteurs legend Luke Haines’ successful attempt in the Noughties to crack the Top 40 with some classic pop records – and has lots of 90’s dreampop pumping through its veins. In short, it’s lovely.
Debut album ‘What We Have Now’ – produced by Yael and fellow band member Shahar Levi – promises lots more danceable and dreamy stuff. Until it drops, an exclusive live set from Borito for Indie Midlands back in June is the perfect place to sink into their sound.
