Distant Blue – DEAD

Distant Blue with their heavy, rocking latest single ‘DEAD’ is the latest release to be accustomed to my critical reviewing manor, and I must say: I am impressed! Slightly heavier than what I am usually accustomed to, Distant Blue have produced not only a stunning single with heavy riffs and emotion, they have managed to craft a single which feels incredibly fresh and new to listen to.
Formed in Nottingham, over the past few years, Distant Blue have rapidly acquired ears from many-a-fan and it is clear to see why. In this single alone, one can pick out many – apparent – influences in their music such as Linkin Park and Bring Me The Horizon. What perhaps makes this band feel so innovative would be their incorporation of brass elements and a unique relationship with melody. Along with this is bought dirty basslines and hard edged, cutting guitar lines which reinforce the bands strong alt rock, post-metal stance on music.
Distant Blue take their sensational live show on the road in April, in which I strongly encourage listeners to pick up a ticket and head out to see them… There is nothing more exciting than a new talent spreading their wings throughout the UK – I truly believe this could be happening here.
‘DEAD’ is out now via streaming services.
Distant Blue headine The Sunflower Lounge on April 11th, tickets here.
