Inhaler – When It Breaks
‘When It Breaks’ is the anthemic new single from Dublin quartet Inhaler. The first song the band have written post lockdown. ‘When It Breaks’ channels the angst and uncertainty of life in 2020. With its lyrical themes making this the most political we’ve heard from the boys so far.
Speaking about the release Inhaler said “It’s definitely the most politically driven song we’ve released so far. It’s our interpretation of this strange and imperfect world we’ve come to live in. Things are gonna change and we are gonna be there when they do.”
Not only does the songs content reflect the persistent disquiet of our current climate but it also showcases the bands individual talent as musicians with frontman, Hewson, demonstrating some of his strongest vocal performances to date. Each element of the track is carefully threaded together on a constant escalation giving the single an overwhelming feeling of optimism across the song’s 4 minutes.
After listening to nothing but this song all weekend it leaves me very eager to see these guys out on tour again. During their fairly short career the band have already triumphed at notable support slots with the likes of Blossoms and Noel Gallagher’s High-Flying Birds while also managing to sell out their own headline tours with phenomenal success. They plan to tour again next year and are among the first artists confirmed for This is Tomorrow, The Neighbourhood Weekender and TRSNMT festival in 2021.
‘When It Breaks’ has fast become one of the standout tracks of the year and with each of their songs somehow exceeding the last, I’m very excited to hear what this band have in store for the future.
