Natasha Nicole – Alright In The End
Midlands based singer-songwriter Natasha Nicole is no stranger to the music world having previously been a member of Indie Rock band Jump The Shark, however this is her first solo single debut. Recorded and produced by Mathew Pinfield in Wolverhampton ‘Alright in the End’ takes an indie folk approach, fitting into a world with the likes of Nora Jones and Joni Mitchell.
‘Alright in The End’ delves into the world of mental illness, in this case Natasha’s own battle with anxiety and depression, with the goal of the song being to comfort and reassure the listener with lyrics like “you need time to rest your mind from all your struggles” and “if it’s not alright, it’s not the end”. Natasha’s soft vocals flow gently through the song, along with accompaniment from the acoustic guitar, piano and bass. The single is given an extra nudge in the right direction with the addition of a baritone saxophone solo towards the end, which while unexpected fits really nicely with the tone of the song.
‘Alright in the End’ is a gallant move for a first single, it doesn’t follow the usual modus operandi of releasing a big anthem style song, something most musicians follow nowadays, and I think that’s a good thing. This song has heart, the writing has soul and the musicianship overall is very impressive, especially for a first release. Go and listen to it now!
