Shelf Lives – Shock Horror
Disco meets post-punk on ‘Shock Horror’, the infectious new single from South London-based duo Shelf Lives.
Ok, so disco is maybe a bit of a stretch, but there is definitely a dancey element to the track that combined with the post-punk feel helps to create a very bouncy tune. There’s more than a 90’s trashy european nostalgia to the song. I picture lots of shiny PVC and high heels in my mind. The track is full of attitude.
“Shock Horror is an homage to our worst nightmare of a human. An amalgamation of specific traits that are so transparent yet irresistible, in a way. Everyone has met one or has even been one at some point in their lives. The catch is that this type of person is annoyingly frustrating in that you can’t help yourself but feel a little bit sorry for them. They’re lost, probably lonely, and super cliché which makes them harmless and so easy to dislike” states singer Sabrina.
Fortunately on the basis of this song Shelf Lives are very easy to like!
