Classic MC5 Drummer DENNIS THOMPSON Dead At 75

Classic MC5 drummer Dennis “Machine Gun” Thompson has died at 75 years old. Thompson originally drummed for MC5 between 1965 and 1972, and then again in 1992, as well as between 2003 and 2012, and between 2022 and present day.

Thompson played on both MC5 records – Back In The USA in 1970 and High Time in 1971 – as well as a handful of live releases, including the highly-influential 1969 live album Kick Out The Jams.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Thompson died at a nursing home in Michigan where he was being rehabilitated after suffering a heart attack this April. Thompson‘s death comes only a few months after guitarist Wayne Kramer, and sadly before MC5 could be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame later this year.

We wish Thompson‘s friends and family all the best at this time.
