CYNIC Splits With Drummer MATT LYNCH

Cynic is the latest band in metal to part ways with their drummer, as they’ve just announced their split with Matt Lynch. Lynch joined Cynic in 2014 after Sean Reinert parted ways with the band, and has played with Cynic until present day. Cynic has not announced a replacement for Lynch.

“After a meaningful chapter together, we’ve decided to part ways with Matt Lynch,” wrote Cynic. “We’re thankful for the time and music shared and wish Matt all the best as he moves ahead.”

Lynch played on Cynic‘s 2018 single “Humanoid”, as well as their 2021 record Ascension Codes. Personally, I thought Lynch did a phenomenal job embodying the work of Reinert and his artful drum compositions. So it’ll be interesting to see how Cynic moves forward in terms of drummers – they’ve had two great ones.
