Just hours after revealing the exit of drummer Alex Bent, Trivium wasted no time in naming his successor: Greyson Nekrutman. Bent’s departure closes a nine-year chapter that marked some of the most acclaimed releases in Trivium’s modern era, while Nekrutman’s arrival adds yet another twist to an already eventful year in the world of metal drumming.

Nekrutman, known for his technical prowess and explosive energy, had recently joined Sepultura in February 2025, following his departure from Suicidal Tendencies. His stint with the Brazilian legends came in the wake of Eloy Casagrande’s abrupt move to Slipknot earlier that same month.

Nekrutman made his live debut with Sepultura on March 1st, quickly earning praise for his precision and intensity behind the kit. Now, he steps into another high-pressure role with Trivium, filling the shoes of one of their most beloved members.

Bent, meanwhile, took to Trivium’s official social media to share a heartfelt statement reflecting on his time with the band: “I am beyond grateful for the incredible past nine years with Trivium — filled with unforgettable moments, music, and friendships that I’ll always carry with me. I’m so proud of every record and tour we created together, and I know Trivium will continue to dominate the world; they’ll always have my support.”

He also made it clear that his departure marks a transition, not a farewell: “While this chapter has come to a close, this is by no means the end of my path as a musician. I’m excited for this new chapter, and I look forward to continuing to create, perform, and share music in new ways. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. Your encouragement means the world.”
