Here’s Your First Taste Of SNOT’s First New Record Since 2000

Snot emerged as one of the most promising and unpredictable forces of the burgeoning nü-metal scene. Their 1997 debut album Get Some was a chaotic and charismatic blast fueled by the explosive presence of frontman Lynn Strait. But just as their momentum was building and their second album was underway, tragedy struck. In December 1998, Strait was killed in a car accident at the age of 30. The loss sent shockwaves through the metal community and brought Snot‘s trajectory to a heartbreaking halt.
Two years later, the unfinished album would transform into a powerful tribute. Released in 2000, Strait Up featured a lineup of guest vocalists from across the heavy music world paying homage to Lynn Strait and his legacy. The record included appearances from Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Jonathan Davis (Korn), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Max Cavalera (Soulfly), and way more. It was basically a “who’s who” of nü-metal.
For years, Snot remained largely dormant. There were brief reunions, one-off shows, and occasional reconfigurations, but a proper return never fully materialized. Then in 2025, Snot officially came back with vocalist Andy Knapp, who had never been in the band before (but is kicking major ass live).
Now to sweeten the reunion, Snot is poised to release their first new album in over 25 years. Founding bassist John “Tumor” Fahnestock recently teased a snippet of new music on social media which you can check out below. It marks the first official taste of new material since 2000 and I mean, it sounds good! As good as a short snippet like that can sound, anyway.
