INNUMERABLE FORMS (SUMERLANDS, POWER TRIP) Announces New Album Pain Effulgence, Unleashes Crushing Single “Impulse”

Innumerable Forms – the band featuring vocalist and guitarist Justin DeTore (Sumerlands, Dream Unending) alongside Chris Ulsh (Mammoth Grinder, Power Trip), Jensen Ward (Iron Lung), and Connor Donnegan (Genocide Pact) – is set to release their new record Pain Effulgence on August 22 via Profound Lore Records.
Innumerable Forms has just unveiled the album’s lead single, “Impulse,” which DeTore said “represents what Innumerable Forms has been about since the beginning: angry, dark, death/doom.” I’m sure you’ll also come to that conclusion about 10 seconds into the single.
Pain Effulgence pushes Innumerable Forms‘ sonic trajectory to new lows of misery, building on the foundation laid with 2018’s Punishment in Flesh and 2022’s Philosophical Collapse. Pain Effulgence was produced by Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Tomb Mold, Cavalera) and features stunning artwork by Katie Muller.
“Pain Effulgence channels raw violence into a deeper meditation,” said DeTore. “It’s bleak—full of resentment, repression, and spiritual exile, yet there’s a constant refusal to submit. Whether clawing through inner torment (‘Blotted Inside’) or rejecting moral weakness (‘Ressentiment’), the lyrics embody a brutal, unflinching defense of personal dignity.”
