KATATONIA Reissues Their Rare, MIKAEL ÅKERFELDT-Fronted 1997 EP Sounds Of Decay

Way back in 1997, Katatonia released their final death-doom-styled EP called Sounds Of Decay. The EP was the last effort from Katatonia to feature Opeth vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt, and has occasionally appeared as bonus tracks on a reissue of Brave Murder Day.

Now all these years later, Katatonia has announced a CD reissue – the first time it’s been on that format since 1997 – including the super rare bonus track “Untrue”. Well, rare if you’re looking for it on the EP. It was later released on the Brave Yester Days compilation album in 2004.

Personally, I’m stoked for this to be reissues. I’m also pretty glad they kept the original artwork, which is a still from the incredibly-fucked-up movie Begotten. Pre-orders are available here.
