MONSTER MAGNET’s BOB PANTELLA Joins THE OBSESSED

Iconic American doom metal pioneers The Obsessed are entering a new chapter with a powerful lineup change and a return to European stages. Founding frontman Scott “Wino” Weinrich has confirmed that longtime drummer Brian Costantino has stepped down for personal reasons, and in his place steps Bob Pantella, the renowned percussionist behind Monster Magnet, The Atomic Bitchwax, and Raging Slab.

I have known Bob for many years and have always admired his skills behind the drums, and after our initial jam together, we are inspired and ready to rock. You may already know him from his other excellent bands The Atomic Bitchwax, Monster Magnet and Raging Slab. We are proud to welcome Bob into The Obsessed.”

Pantella‘s arrival brings a fresh surge of energy to the band, promising to ignite The Obsessed‘s crushing, no-frills doom with renewed ferocity as they prepare to hit the road.

This fall, the band will embark on a major European tour, including sets at Desertfest, Up In Smoke, and Keep It Low festivals. As a special treat for longtime fans, The Obsessed will be performing their 1994 cult classic album The Church Within in full at select shows. The album — widely considered a cornerstone of 1990s doom — will be brought back to life on stage for the first time in decades with the force of the new lineup behind it.

The news follows the band’s thunderous return in 2023 with Gilded Sorrow, their first full-length in seven years, released through California’s Ripple Music.
