OLI SYKES On BRING ME THE HORIZON’s “Medicine”: “Even I Think That Song Is Shit”

Bring Me The Horizon leaned hard into their pop sensibilities with their 2019 record Amo. The record was produced by vocalist Oli Sykes and then-keyboardist Jordan Fish and featured (among others) a single called “Medicine”. The single was heavily featured throughout Bring Me The Horizon‘s 2019 touring schedule, but then was played a total of 17 times between 2020 and 2022 – and it hasn’t been played since.

So what’re the chances “Medicine” makes it back into the setlist? Well, one fan asked Sykes during a June 23 show in Germany and his reaction wasn’t exactly positive.

“All right, what we’re gonna do… what would you like to hear?” asks Sykes before someone yells out the song in question. He responds: “‘Medicine’? Are you guys all right? You’re good, you’re good, right? You guys would like to hear ‘Medicine’? Even I think that song is shit. ‘Pray For Plagues’? ‘Chelsea Smile’? ‘Don’t Look Down’?”

So there you go – if you’re a big hater of “Medicine”, so is at least one of the dudes that wrote the song.
