Opeth has postponed their new record The Last Will And Testament from October 11 to November 22. Opeth cites unforeseen delays in the manufacturing process for the new release date.

“We strive to deliver the highest quality product possible, and to achieve that, we need a bit more time to ensure the final release meets our standards,” wrote Opeth frontman Mikael Åkerfeldt. “We understand this may come as a disappointment, but we sincerely appreciate your patience and continued support. We can’t wait to share this new music with you, and we are confident it will be worth the wait.”

Pre-orders for The Last Will And Testament are available here. The Last Will & Testament is a concept album set in the post-World War I era that tells the the story of a wealthy, conservative patriarch whose last will and testament reveals shocking family secrets. The narrative weaves through the patriarch’s confessions, the reactions of his twin children, and the mysterious presence of a polio-ridden girl who the family have taken care of.

The strings on The Last Will & Testament were arranged by Åkerfeldt and Dave Stewart (Egg, Khan). and conducted by Stewart at Angel Studios in London. Flautist and Jethro Tull main man Ian Anderson provides narration on “§1”, “§2”, “§4”, and “§7”; and flute on “§4” and “§7”. Europe‘s Joey Tempest lends his backing vocals on “§2”, while Åkerfeldt‘s youngest daughter Mirjam Åkerfeldt is the disembodied voice in “§1”.

Opeth will still hit the road throughout October with Tribulation, and in Europe come early 2025 with Grand Magus. Check out the full list of dates below and get your tickets here.
