SPIRITBOX’s Performance Of “Soft Spine” On Jimmy Kimmel Live! Was Downright Vicious

Spiritbox brought their particular brand of skull-smashing heavy to late night TV this week with a powerful performance of “Soft Spine” on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, continuing a breakthrough year that’s seen them dominate charts, tour worldwide, and cross over into mainstream territory. Their appearance follows Knocked Loose and Poppy‘s own Kimmel performance earlier this year, proving metal is alive and well on national television.

Also, let’s acknowledge that Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante didn’t even try to keep those screams tame – this was full-on vocal violence on TV.

The Canadian genre-benders have been riding high since the release of their new album Tsunami Sea on March 7, 2025. The record hit #2 on the Current Rock Albums chart, #3 on both the Vinyl and Digital Albums charts, and further cemented Spiritbox’s position as one of the most forward-thinking bands in modern heavy music.

In 2025 alone, Spiritbox earned a second consecutive GRAMMY nomination for their single “Cellar Door,” collaborated with Megan Thee Stallion on the viral hit “TYG” (which they performed at Coachella), and wrapped a sold-out North American headlining run. Their European tour with Linkin Park — capped off by a monumental Wembley Stadium performance — set a new bar for what a modern metal act can achieve. Well, that and now this.
