STATIC-X Toying With The Idea Of Writing Their First Post-WAYNE STATIC Album

Static-X bassist Tony Campos has confirmed that the band are considering writing brand-new material with their current lineup once they’ve completed work on their long-in-the-making documentary.

Speaking with Bloodstock TV’s Oran O’Beirne at last month’s Bloodstock Open Air festival, Campos revealed: “We’ve been talking about writing some new material, some new songs. We have a documentary that’s in the works right now. So we’re gonna finish that first. And then, once we drop that, then we’ll revisit going in and writing some new material. I don’t wanna juggle too many plates. Let’s just finish [the documentary]. Then we can focus all of our attention on new material.”

Asked if the documentary is expected to arrive in 2026, Campos confirmed: “Yeah, that’s what we’re shooting for. We’re in editing process now. All the footage is done. We’ve just gotta find the right edit. And we’ll get done with this run here, we’ll get done with the run in the U.S. coming up with Mudvayne, and then we’ll spend the rest of the year working on that.”

Static-X‘s last two albums Project Regeneration Vol. 1 in 2020 and Project Regeneration Vol. 2 in 2024, featured the surviving members of the Wisconsin Death Trip lineup — Campos, drummer Ken Jay, and guitarist Koichi Fukuda — alongside final recordings of late frontman Wayne Static. Both records were produced by vocalist Xer0 (widely believed to be Edsel Dope) and mixed and mastered by longtime collaborator Ulrich Wild.

While the band are still touring heavily behind the Project Regeneration albums, Campos‘ comments mark the first hint that Static-X could move forward with original music in their current era.

Static-X will hit the road with Mudvayne and Vended this September and October. The tour kicks off on September 11 at Q Casino Back Waters Stage in Dubuque, IA and wraps up over one month later at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT on October 26.
