The Weekly Injection: New Releases From BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, PARTY CANNON & More Out This Week 3/27
This week’s new heavy metal releases include biker metal from uncle Zakk, blazing black metal, lots of prog, and more! To the metals…
Bekor Qilish – Consecrated Abysses of Dread

Genre: Avant-garde /death metal
Origin: Milan, Lombardy, Italy
Label: I, Voidhanger Records)
Buy now on Bandcamp
Every once in a while I’m hit with a record that sounds like the best type of madness and it’s almost always an I, Voidhanger record. This is one of those records. In the 3:47 runtime of the track below there’s black metal, dissonant death metal, and experimental thrash. The rest of the record dabbles with synths, old school prog, and straight ahead rock n roll. Like I said, the best type of madness.

Black Label Society – Engines Of Demolition

Genre: Heavy metal
Origin: Los Angeles, California
Label: MNRK Heavy
Buy now on Bandcamp
It’s been five years since Zakk and his gang of bikers have brought BLS to your ears. Sure, he’s been busy with Zakk Sabbath and Pantera, but these are pure Wylde rock. Expect lots of solos.

Carnivore A.D. – Transmutation

Genre: Crossover thrash
Origin: Brooklyn, New York
Label: Apostasy
Buy now on Bandcamp
The whole Carnivore thing is confusing. This is some version of the band’s first release of new material in albums forty years. After reuniting as a tribute to Peter Steele with the “AD,” some of the guys kept going with out him, but now different guys are going still with out the original guys? Anyway, these five songs rip no matter what banner they are using.

Godsticks – Void

Genre: Progressive rock/metal
Origin: Wales
Label: Kscope
Buy now on Bandcamp
If your a fan of the Transatlantic and or anything Neal Morse touches, you’ll probably dig this slightly heavier take on that sound. Void is quite groovy, complex, and melodic. Soaring dad prog (meant as a compliment) mixed with djent.

Only Human – Planned Obsolescence

Genre: Progressive Metal
Origin: Copenhagen, Denmark
Label: Season Of Mist
Buy now on Bandcamp
More prog. You can’t stop me. This is much heavier that Godsticks, but just as groovy. You’re getting some metalcore mixed in as well as lots of sci-fi influences. Sorta reminds me of Last Chance To Reason.

Party Cannon – Subjected To A Partying

Genre: Brutal death metal/slam
Origin: Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
Label: Unique Leader Records
Buy now on Bandcamp
Do you guys rememeber that episode of Futurama with Slurms Mckenzie? He was a space slug that was the mascot for a soft drink and partied for a living but was so tired and sad about it. I wonder if that’s what it’s like for Party Cannon. Anyway, this EP has some remixes, a couple live tracks, and four new crushing tracks.

Rivers Ablaze – Inexternal Dread

Genre: Progressive black/death metal
Origin: Budapest, Hungary
Label: Inertial Music
Buy now on Bandcamp
More progressive metal. Again, you can’t stop me! Actually this is more on the black or death metal side of things anyway. You’re get some breaks for some slight genre shifts, but it’s mostly heavy. Lots of shredding from all involved.

Winterfylleth – The Unyielding Season

Genre: Black metal
Origin: Manchester, England
Label: Napalm
Buy now on Bandcamp
There is always an grim energy to a Winterfylleth album but rarely does it sound actually angry. This time, they seem pissed. Still all the epic symphonic elements underneath black metal speed, but there’s a rage this time. It’s on the nose to say this, but there’s a fire under them this time.
