The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

This week’s new heavy metal releases include moody masked modern metal, rapid rage-filled riffs, and more! To the metals…

Abraham – Idsungwüssä

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Atmospheric sludge/post-metal
Origin: Lausanne, Switzerland
Label: Pelagic Records

Buy now on Bandcamp

If you’re in the mood for some ethereal, uneasy, heaviness then look no further than the new Abraham. There is a darkness throughout this record that makes the ebbs and flows of it carry so much weigh. If this is a genre you dig and you see Pelagic Records put it out, then you know it’s some of the good shit. This is indeed some of the good shit.

Amorphis – Borderland

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Melodic death metal
Origin: Helsinki, Finland
Label: Reigning Phoenix

Buy now from Amorphis

Next up is the fifteenth album from these melodic masters. As always you’re getting their balance of epic folk-ish metal, dark gothic aura, and death metal grit. You’ll dance, you’ll mosh, you’ll be engulfed in gloom.

Dying Wish – Flesh Stays Together

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Metalcore
Origin: Portland, Oregon
Label: SharpTone

Buy now from Dying Wish

The Dying Wish party is one that I got to late, but I’m glad I’m here now. The band have one foot in the classic metalcore sound, but put their own spin on it. Genre staples like breakdowns and melodic choruses are both here, and the rest is pure Dying Wish.

Elder – Liminality / Dream State Return

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Progressive/psychedelic rock
Origin: Berlin, Germany
Label: Self-released

Buy now on Bandcamp

The Elder lads sprung this on us on Monday and what a joyous surprise it was. This is a two-song EP, but because it’s Elder, you’re still getting just shy of nineteen minutes of music. These songs apparently didn’t quite fit on their last two records, so they’re getting their own life here and it’s awesome to get these bonus, yet not-so bonus tracks.

President – King Of Terrors

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Alternative metal/hard rock
Origin: United Kingdom
Label: Self-released

Buy now from President

Not a lot is officially known about President. It seems like a Google will blown their identity, but that’s no fun. This is their debut and It’s six songs of trap-ish modern metal. It feels lazy to compare them to Sleep Token, but if you’re a fan of ST and want another masked, moody band, with some pop/hip hop beats balanced with big metal parts in your life, this will probably scratch the itch.

Revocation – New Gods, New Masters

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Technical death metal/thrash
Origin: Boston, Massachusetts
Label: Metal Blade

Buy now from Bandcamp

Looking for guitar notes? This album has all of them. David Davidson and his crew of technical death metal masters shred through their instruments and your ear drums here. They brought some friends along in Travis from Cattle Decapitation, Luc from Gorguts, Jonny from Job For A Cowboy, and jazz shredder Gilad Hekselman. We gushed about this album all month, and honestly was that really long enough?

The Vintage Caravan – Portals

The Weekly Injection: New Releases From REVOCATION, AMORPHIS & More Out This Week 9/26

Genre: Progressive rock
Origin: Reykjavík, Iceland
Label: Napalm

Buy now on Bandcamp

Last up we have some Icelandic prog. These guys have a bit of the moody Porcupine Tree thing to them here, but I’m also hearing some almost reggae rhythms, straight ahead rock, and hella riffs. There’s a guest spot from Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth on a song that I could be convinced is a left over from Sorceress.
