Ready for another Drumeo video with Mike Portnoy once again learning a song? Well, this time around you are really gonna get something no one anticipated: The renowned Dream Theater drummer learning to play one of Taylor Swift‘s most popular tunes.

The first thing that happens when Portnoy is listening to a drumless version of the song, is the prog-metal version of Taylor Swift you never knew you’d get: he turns the pop-infused simplicity of the song into an odd-time signatures drumming fest.

“I have not the slightest clue (about what this is), it sounds like something out of Disneyland in Japan or something… is that something that’s popular?” Portnoy says after finishing playing along. When host Brandon Toews tells Portnoy that the song has 3.3 billion views on YouTube, he laughs and replies: “I can guarantee you that one of those was not me!”

“I’ve never heard a single Kanye song or a single Beyonce song,” Portnoy goes on to confess. When almost at the end of the video Toews reveals the track is a Taylor Swift song, and Portnoy reaction is priceless: “Taylor I’m really sorry I still would play with you in a heartbeat I swear I wouldn’t do that!… my daughter is going get a kick out of this, wow I’m sorry I totally ruined your song…”
