Louis is a Seattle transplant, having uprooted from his home state of New Jersey a few years ago. His move is a dominant theme in the band’s debut 2019 album release, Alright Already. Independently released, the album reads like a book, as feelings of leaving everything you know are powerful and reign throughout each song.
The music is strong and lyrically Louis wears his heart on his sleeve, talking of the internal struggle, challenges and growth that came with his relocation. What better way to write great music than to completely change your life, right?
La Fille’s unique sound ranges from indie-rock to power-pop, with a guitar-forward sound comprising heavy, silky riffs and waves of pop melodies. The project is a complex flavor on the palate. Catchy hooks are entwined throughout each song, especially in “Skyline”, which is reminiscent of Bleachers and flor. La Fille’s drummer Joe Oakes has punk rock roots, as he left his own band to pursue La Fille with Louis after the two hit it off, meeting by chance via Craiglist. The rest fell into place and the band went on to record the album, which was was produced by Michael Benjamin Lerner of Telekinesis.
