Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit Reported Missing After Troubling Tweets

Scott Hutchison, 36-year-old frontman for Scotland’s Frightened Rabbit, has been reported missing by the band. On Twitter the band wrote: “We are worried about Scott, who has been missing for a little while now. He may be in a fragile state and may not be making the best decisions for himself right now.” According to the BBC, Hutchison was last seen at the Dakota Hotel in South Queensferry, which he left at 1 a.m. this morning local time. Around 11 p.m. last night Hutchison posted two troubling tweets that have heightened concern for his wellbeing, first writing: “Be so good to everyone you love. It’s not a given. I’m so annoyed that it’s not. I didn’t live by that standard and it kills me. Please, hug your loved ones.” That tweet was followed 19 minutes later by one that read: “I’m away now. Thanks.” Hutchison is now believed to be in Edinburgh, a 35-minute drive from South Queensferry.

Police Inspector Graeme Dignan said to the BBC: “We are keen to locate Scott as soon as possible to ensure he is safe and well and would urge anyone who can assist with our ongoing inquiries to come forward. If you believe you have seen him since the early hours of Wednesday morning or know where he currently is, then please contact police immediately. I’d also urge Scott to get in touch with family, friends or with police, to let us know he is alright.”

Frightened Rabbit’s most recent album, Painting of a Panic Attack, was released in 2016 via Canvasback Music/Atlantic. In 2014 he released a solo album under the name Owl John. Hutchison recently teamed up with his brother Grant Hutchison (also Frightened Rabbit’s drummer) and brother Justin and James Lockey of Editors and Minor Victories to form supergroup Mastersystem, whose debut album, Dance Music, was released last month. We recently interviewed Hutchison about the Mastersystem album.
