LearningToDive – Falling Leaves

LearningToDive

For fans of: post punk, melancholic synth pop, The Knife, New Order, Depeche Mode

Reflecting on mortality, LearningToDive’s new single, ‘Falling Leaves’, is an ode to post punk that will leave you feeling sad at the disco. Soft vocals contrast a string of devastating synth sounds creating a perfect song for 2020.

Written in 2019, this song tackles pain, sadness, loss, and fear. This almost eerie prediction of the 2020 feeling has me wondering if the writer has a crystal ball to hand in the studio. The main chorus of “Winter slow down, watching these falling leaves” comes just at the right time as we all move into the shorter days and colder nights. Almost like a friend looking out for you, LearningToDive has produced a song that will at least let you know you’re not alone as you bask in your sadness.

Created by producer Bravo Bonez, LearninToDive is one of a handful of musical personalities, this one taking a break from Bonez’ usual lo-fi, beats, trip hop and acid-jazz. Heavily influenced by post punk and synth pop, ‘Falling Leaves’ is the second track released under this alias and meets all expectations to pair with earlier song ‘High & Dry’ like cheese and wine.

With the EP ‘Norwegian Pop’ coming in 2021, we can expect even more anguish and smooth synth to tide us over.
