Former Mastodon guitarist and vocalist Brent Hinds is heading overseas this fall for an extensive European trek that showcases both of his current projects. In addition to joining CKY as direct support on their Fiend Without A Face UK tour, Hinds will headline a separate run across Europe under the banner An Evening With Brent Hinds.

The headlining tour will see Fiend Without A Face taking top billing, with Hinds pulling double duty by opening each show with his other band, Dirty B & The Boys. The tour marks the first-ever European headlining run for Fiend Without A Face, offering fans a rare chance to catch Hinds in full creative flight across two of his most unconventional and genre-bending musical outlets. In a surprising shakeup for the progressive metal world, Mastodon officially parted ways with founding guitarist Brent Hinds on March 5, 2025, marking the end of a 25-year era for the Grammy-winning band. Just days after the announcement, Mastodon performed their first show without Hinds on March 9 at Tool‘s Live in the Sand event. YouTuber Ben Eller filled in for the performance, while guitar virtuoso Nick Johnston has since been tapped for live duties. However, the band has yet to confirm a permanent full-time replacement for Hinds.

Speaking with Guitar World, guitarist Bill Kelliher reflected on the split: “What can you say about the legacy of Mastodon‘s first 25 years with Brent? It’s been a fun, wild ride. We achieved things I never imagined — Grammys, touring with Iron Maiden, Metallica, Motörhead, Tool. Like a marriage, people grow apart and get interested in other things. We wish Brent nothing but the best in chasing his dreams.”

Kelliher added: “It’s amazing we made it 25 years together. That alone is a feat. You can’t really replace any of us — we’re the sum of four parts. But that doesn’t mean someone else can’t offer something new. It was a hard decision. It was just time.”

As for Hinds, while he hasn’t issued an official statement, a blunt comment on a Mastodon Instagram post suggested tensions may have been high behind the scenes. When a fan said they’d miss Hinds and praised the track “Halloween,” the guitarist responded: “I won’t miss being in a shit band with horrible humans.”
