COSMIC REAPER Streams New & Doomed Record Bleed The Wicked, Drown The Damned

North Carolina doom bringers Cosmic Reaper are set to unleash their second full-length album, Bleed The Wicked, Drown The Damned, on September 26 through Heavy Psych Sounds Records. But why wait to hear it? We’re streaming it in full below! So go pack a bowl and sit the fuck down, because it’s time for riffs.
Since their formation in 2017, Cosmic Reaper have carried a black-flamed torch of doom and sludge, blending a raw Southern swing with amplifier-worshipping heaviness. Rooted in the traditions of Black Sabbath and Saint Vitus, yet touched by the textured aggression of Soundgarden and the chaotic intensity of Snapcase, the Charlotte-based quartet carve out their own sonic ritual: bass-heavy grooves, fuzzed-out riffs, and ethereal vocals that channel both mysticism and menace.
The band’s 2021 self-titled debut made waves for its cataclysmic atmosphere and hard rock-tinged doomscapes, while 2022’s Doom Sessions Vol. 7 pushed their sound into new rhythmic territory. Now, with lineup changes behind them and the addition of guitarist Pete Snasdell, Cosmic Reaper have expanded their twin-guitar attack and doubled down on their commitment to the cult of heavy metal.
Frontman/guitarist Thad Collis describes the record as both an evolution and a return to roots: “Bleed The Wicked, Drown The Damned is an album we poured our hearts into. We wanted to take our sound to a new level, but also call back to the roots of doom, with a touch of 90s angst. Lyrically, it touches on everything from standing up to tyranny, to revenge, to sacrifice, to love, lust, and betrayal — all wrapped in themes of horror, science-fiction, and history. For the best listening experience: light one up, and turn it up loud.”
Bleed The Wicked, Drown The Damned was recorded and mixed by Blake Hobson at Sense 2 Recording Studio and mastered by Esben Willems at Studio Berserk. Pre-orders are available here.
