MEGADETH Streams “Tipping Point” From Their Final Album, Due In 2026

Thrash metal legends Megadeth have officially released “Tipping Point”, the lead single from their upcoming — and final — studio album, set for release on January 23, 2026. The self-titled record will arrive via frontman Dave Mustaine‘s Tradecraft imprint through Frontiers Label Group’s new BLKIIBLK label, marking the band’s closing chapter after more than four decades of influence.
Opening with a blistering guitar solo, “Tipping Point” quickly cascades into Dave Mustaine’s unmistakable vocal delivery, pairing ferocity with sharp, unflinching lyricism. A haunting music video, directed by Leonardo Liberti, accompanies the track, depicting Mustaine imprisoned and tortured, only to emerge unbroken and walking into a new day.
“We all have different ‘tipping points’ and they may vary from day to day,” Mustaine explains. “I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it’s important not to let things get you down.”
The announcement of Megadeth comes with a bittersweet revelation: this will be the band’s final studio album, followed by an expansive farewell world tour in 2026. The record serves as the follow-up to 2022’s The Sick, The Dying… And The Dead! and continues the band’s collaboration with producer Chris Rakestraw, who also helmed the previous two albums.
In a press release, Mustaine reflected on the decision to end Megadeth on their own terms: “Most musicians don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye.”
He continued: “Don’t be mad, don’t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years. We started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it’s played, and we changed the world.”
