Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back to Black’ Gets Lavish 20th Anniversary Reissue

Amy Winehouse’s blockbuster album, Back to Black, which introduced her signature blend of pop, hip-hop, and classic girl-group aesthetics, is receiving a lavish 20th-anniversary reissue. The expansive set, scheduled for release on October 23, serves as a definitive tribute to a record that continues to influence modern pop stars two decades later. The collection includes the original studio album, a dedicated disc of B-sides, rare demos, and bonus tracks, alongside a complete recording of a 2007 concert.

The reissue will be available in multiple formats, including triple-CD and clear triple-LP sets. Fans can also look forward to a special “zoetrope” vinyl edition of the original album, which creates an illusion of motion as it spins, as well as an Amazon-exclusive CD. The package is bolstered by new liner notes featuring commentary from producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi, alongside previously unseen photography by Mischa Richter and Alex Lake. Notably, Ronson has contributed images of Winehouse’s original handwritten lyrics from his personal archives.

Back to Black was an immediate sensation upon its U.K. release in October 2006, eventually achieving 15-times platinum status. It saw similar success in the U.S., where it peaked at Number Two and is currently certified double platinum. This anniversary edition offers both casual listeners and dedicated fans a deeper look into the creative process behind one of the most significant albums of the 21st century.
