Japanese Powerhouse BAND-MAID Drop New EP, SCOOOOOP

image

BAND-MAID and their melodic J-metal plays on the perception of tempo and dynamics, creating a whiplash-like effect on their newest EP, SCOOOOOP. Released this past Friday (24th of October), while the band technically classifies themselves as “rock,” there are far too many blast-beats for them to fit comfortably in that genre. Classic metal elements of shredding guitar solos are accompanied by the addition of the occasional thrash moment, and it’s invigorating moments are counterbalanced with melodic anthems.

Two of the EPs tracks, “Zen,” and “Ready To Rock,” are actually the opening theme songs for two major Japanese anime series, Rock Is A Lady’s Modesty and ZENSHU, with the lead single, “What Is Justice?” gaining over 2.4 million views since its release twelve weeks ago. 2025 has continued to award BAND-MAID for their hard work as they were hailed the official ambassador for Record Day 2025 and received support from Kerrang!, Billboard, Outburn, and Crunchyroll.

BAND-MAID‘s newest venture is powerful, emotional, and pretty damn fun. Check out the tracklist below, and you can stream the EP here.
