Anorak Patch – Irate

Anorak Patch

Anorak Patch are a young band (literally, the drummer is just 14) who are beginning to get a lot of praise from the likes of BBC 6Music. And the high school quartet from Colchester deserve it.

After releasing two singles in 2020, ‘Beans’ & ‘6 Week Party’, the foursome are starting off 2021 in the right way with their new release ‘Irate’. A song they wrote during the first lockdown, and a song that deals with the frustrations from having normality completely stripped away.

“We wanted to write something more meaningful, something about the paralysing times we are in now. However we also wanted it to convey how we have hope for the future. “no vapour trails above” shows how we were trying to stay optimistic.” says the bands bassist Eleanor.

‘Irate’ is a tight alt-rock track with a nice post punk-esque bass line, pounding drums and infectious chord changes. Singer Effie’s vocals fit the song perfectly. Bleak but hopefull, coming to the fore in the chorus. After a slight lull in the pace the last 40 seconds or so of the track explodes, allowing you to rock out with it.

I think 2021 is gonna be a good year for Anorak Patch.
