Moonray – Morning Dew
Hartlepool-based experimental producer Grace Stubbings has released her first single, ‘Morning Dew’, under the artistic name of Moonray.
‘Morning Dew’ is the debut track of Stubbing’s alter-ego music project, which was conceived during lockdown, a time when the producer started to reconnect with themes of history, religion, spirituality and philosophy.
Moonray has been producing her own songs since age 15, and remarks in interviews the influence of experimental artists such as Bjork and Grimes on her songwriting and production methods. She studied Music Production at Leeds College of Music, and is also a member of the all-female punk pop band VENUS GRRRLS.
The song itself is a soothing, melodic ambient track that serves as the closer to Moonray’s upcoming EP, ‘Vibriditas’. It deals with spiritual themes that match the vibe of the slow paced track. “I have read a lot about the goddess and connected with my routes and ancestors. This piece represents that growth and finalises the EP on a high note. Meaning that from any dark place, you will always emerge much stronger and back into the light”, she states.
‘Vibriditas’ is coming out May 28th via Monomyth Records.
