Teenage Joans – Something About Being Sixteen

Teenage Joans

Amongst the plethora of great acts in the Australian music scene, one band are really begining to make a name for themselves and that is the Adelaide-based duo of Cahli Blakers & Talia Borg, aka Teenage Joans.

It’s sometimes easy to overdo the credit for an act just because they are young but that is certainly not the case with Teenage Joans. They are genuinely one of the most exciting bands on the scene down under with their angsty garagage rock/indie pop sound. From full of spunky attitude to love torn teenagers with the flick of a switch.

Having previously released two singles to great acclaim, ‘By The Way’ in 2019 and last years’ ‘Three Leaf Clover’, the duo are starting off 2021 with the release of their awesome new track ‘Something About Being Sixteen’.

Fuzzy guitars and pounding drums, matched by an infectiously catchy melody is the way of Teenage Joans. And ‘Something About Being Sixteen’ is no different. A song about moving on, it simply soars at times and makes you want to be in the middle of a mosh at a live gig. Whether you are in their age bracket or even a 48-year old dude like myself. The songs energy just grabs you and refuses to let go.

Personally I long for a day when Teenage Joans are touring the UK so I can get to see them live. Although I definitely won’t be moshing. I learnt I am far too old for that last time I saw Amyl and the Sniffers. I ached for a week after!

Teenage Joans are a great band. Get into them now before they become huge!
