BBC Confirms Delayed OZZY OSBOURNE Documentary Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home For October

The newly announced October 7 premiere date for Paramount+’s Ozzy: No Escape From Now isn’t the only documentary news arriving this week about the late heavy metal icon. The BBC has now confirmed that a separate film, Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, will debut on BBC One on October 2.
The 59-minute documentary was originally scheduled for an August 18 premiere but was pulled hours before airtime at the request of the Osbourne family. Shot over three years as part of the Home To Roost project, the film chronicles the Osbourne clan’s decision to relocate back to the UK in what would become the final chapter of Ozzy‘s life after more than 25 years in Los Angeles.
According to the BBC listing, the documentary is: “An intimate film, shot over three years with Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon and their children Kelly and Jack, as well as their close friends, [that] follows the final chapter of Ozzy‘s life. After 25 years living in LA, he and Sharon decide the time has come to return home to the English country house in Buckinghamshire, where they once brought up their family. But before he retires completely, he’s also determined to perform one last time for his army of fans.”
The film captures both the struggles and the resilience of the Osbourne family as Ozzy faces Parkinson’s disease, lingering back problems from multiple surgeries, and severe mobility issues. Sharon and Ozzy are shown navigating the challenges of aging, while finding comfort in family life surrounded by grandchildren and even their 11 dogs — all of whom, the BBC notes, “get to share Sharon and Ozzy‘s bed.”
The listing continues: “The resulting film is a moving portrait of one of the world’s most entertaining families at a pivotal moment in their history. The strength of Ozzy and Sharon‘s love for one another and their kids’ devotion to them is palpable. So too is the family’s acceptance of Ozzy becoming increasingly unwell. As Kelly poignantly puts it, the iron man isn’t made of iron.”
Yet even as his health declined, Ozzy was determined to deliver a final live performance for his fans. That gig — the all-star Back To The Beginning concert in Birmingham this past July — would become his grand sendoff. Just weeks later, on July 22, Ozzy Osbourne tragically passed away at the age of 76 following a heart attack.
The BBC frames Coming Home as a candid portrayal of both Ozzy‘s extraordinary impact and the love that sustained him to the end: “Ozzy‘s death, just two weeks after a final, triumphant, homecoming gig, is met with shock and grief around the world. Thousands of fans gather to watch his funeral cortege in his home town of Birmingham as it is live-streamed to viewers across the globe. The extraordinary impact of this working-class hero cannot be more apparent.”
