CANNIBAL CORPSE Recruits Ex-THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Guitarist BRANDON ELLIS For Upcoming Tour

Brandon Ellis (ex-The Black Dahlia Murder) will stand in for Cannibal Corpse guitarist Rob Barrett on the death metal legends’ upcoming U.S. trek this fall. The run — featuring support from Municipal Waste, Full of Hell, and Fulci — kicks off September 15 in Nashville, TN and wraps October 22 in Charlotte, NC.
Ellis confirmed the news on his socials earlier today, September 2: “I will be playing guitar with Cannibal Corpse this fall, standing in for Rob Barrett. I’m honored to help out and put on a killer death metal show for you all. See you there!”
Ellis announced his departure from The Black Dahlia Murder in February. Before that, he had earned a reputation as one of modern death metal’s sharpest players, first with Arsis, then stepping in for Ryan Knight in The Black Dahlia Murder in 2016. He contributed to three albums during his near-decade tenure, two of which featured the late Trevor Strnad, who passed away in 2022.
Cannibal Corpse, meanwhile, remain firmly at the forefront of death metal. Their sixteenth studio album, Chaos Horrific, dropped in September 2023 via Metal Blade Records, extending their 35-year legacy of brutality. The record, produced by guitarist Erik Rutan at his Mana Studio in Florida, marked his second release as a full-time member since officially joining in 2020.
No word on why Barrett isn’t touring with Cannibal Corpse, but I guess we’ll find out eventually. Cannibal Corpse will hit the road with Full Of Hell, Municipal Waste, and Fulci on September 15. Get your tickets here.
