There has to be something in the air – drummers are being booted left and right, and bands are filling up their spots quickly – but, here is some good news for Paradise Lost fans.

It’s been nearly 17 years since Jeff Singer was the drummer for UK metal band Paradise Lost, but the band have just announced he is reprising his old role.

Paradise Lost took to social media yesterday to announce Singer‘s re-addition to the band with “And the planets aligned,” alongside a statement from Singer:

“When I got a call asking if I would drum for Paradise Lost again it was clear the time was right and we could actually make this happen. Nothing could make me prouder. Firstly, the band, management and fans have always made me feel part of the family and secondly as a fan of the band it is a dream and something I have thought about a lot over the years. Paradise Lost are in my blood. I can’t wait and am so excited to get out there with the lads playing the songs I love and meeting our amazing loyal fans again.”

Jeff Singer played on the 2005 record Paradise Lost and the 2007 record In Requiem.

Paradise Lost only announced the departure of Guido Zima Montanarini this past week – alongside seven other bands (that we know of) – with a brief statement saying, “We’ve made the difficult creative decision to part ways with our drummer, Guido Zima [Montarini]. We thank Guido for his contributions to the band and wish him all the best in his future endevaors.”

The band posted that to Facebook two days ago, with the announcement of Singer‘s readdition coming in a swift 36-hours later.
