Ex-CARNIVORE Guitarist MARC PIOVANETTI Charged With Sexual Assault & Endangering The Welfare Of A Child

Former Carnivore and Crumbsuckers guitarist Marc Piovanetti has been charged with four counts of second-degree sexual assault, second-degree luring, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

According to a press release from Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, the incidents occurred between February 22 and 23, 2025. On February 23, the New York City Police Department notified the Fort Lee Police Department about a missing child between the ages of 13 and 16 from New York City who was believed to be in the Fort Lee. The Fort Lee Police Department located the child, who was with Marc Piovanetti and his wife Jennifer Piovanetti.

As it turned out, Marc Piovanetti made contact with the child on the social media app TurnUp and made plans to meet. According to the release, Marc Piovanetti then “provided the child with marijuana and sexually assaulted the child in his residence between Saturday, February 22, 2025, and Sunday, February 23, 2025.”

Law enforcement further notes that Jennifer Piovanetti was home and was aware of the child’s presence, along with another child under the age of thirteen who was also there. Both Marc and Jennifer were placed into the custody of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Marc Piovanetti played for Carnivore between 1985 and 1990 – including on their highly-influential 1987 record Retaliation – and for Crumbsuckers between 1988 and 1991. Marc Piovanetti was previously placed on the sex offender registry in 2017, and was sentenced to ten years probation for the rape of a child under fifteen years old.
