MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE Is Joined By BILLY CORGAN To Perform SMASHING PUMPKIN’s “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” In Chicago Last Night

My Chemical Romance performed in Chicago, Illinois last night (Saturday, 30th August) at Soldier Field to over 60,000 fans. The nearly 2 and a half-hour set contained 25 songs and was split into two parts, but at the very end of the night, fans were met with a very welcome surprise.
The ‘Long Live The Black Parade’ tour has been closing out every night with a cover of the Smashing Pumpkins‘ song, “Bullet With Butterfly Wings.” Covering the song started nearly six weeks ago during MCR‘s second date on tour, and it seemingly caught the attention of the Smashing Pumpkins‘ frontman, Billy Corgan, who joined My Chemical Romance for their cover last night in Chicago.
Fans captured videos of the collaboration and quickly posted them to socials, which you can check out below.

My Chemical Romance made headlines back in 2013 when they announced their breakup – teens, young adults, and adults alike mourned a band that shaped them in some way shape or form. And, My Chemical Romance made even bigger headlines in 2019 when they announced they would be reuniting. They released their first record in over a decade in 2022, and just performed an unreleased single on July 26th, “War Beneath The Rain,” that was written pre-breakup and dedicated to their late engineer, Doug McKean. MCR has been touring extensively since their regrouping in 2019, and just announced their largest stadium tour ever. There’s no telling if new music is on the horizon, but it’s safe to safe, emo is very much not dead.
