Death Metal Monday: MORTUAL Altar Of Brutality

Mondays suck. Death metal doesn’t. So let’s start the week off by checking out a recently-released death metal album. And if you need more, check out all the previous editions of Death Metal Monday here.
Costa Rican death metal soon-to-be-juggernaut Mortual has unleashed their debut full-length album, Altar of Brutality — and if you’re a fan of primal riffs, guttural vocals, and razor-sharp songwriting, this is a record you need to hear.
Released via Nuclear Winter Records and mixed/mastered by Dan Lowndes at Resonance Sound Studio, Altar of Brutality delivers punishing clarity without sacrificing filth or fury. Mortual crafts a sound that’s raw yet disciplined, striking a great balance between total savagery and restrain for the long haul. It’s also a damn solid lesson in how to balance varied songwriting with unwavering brutality, especially impressive for a debut.
Mortual is absolutely for fans of Deicide, Mortem, Sadistic Intent, and early Monstrosity – or if you’re looking for what sounds like Costa Rica’s answer to Necrot.
Adding fuel to their momentum, Mortual just opened for Finnish death metal legends Convulse on tour in Mexico, a sure sign that their underground buzz is quickly turning into something more substantial. With a debut this strong, Mortual is poised to break beyond borders and become a name to watch in the global extreme metal scene.
If you like your death metal fast, filthy, and ferociously tight, Altar of Brutality isn’t just worth your time — it’s mandatory listening. Get it here on Bandcamp and get wrecked.
