MUDVAYNE Unhappy With 2025’s “Sticks And Stones” & “Hurt People Hurt People” Mixing, Quietly Uploads New Mixes To Streaming Services

After almost two decades of no new music, Mudvayne released their newest singles “Hurt People Hurt People” and “Sticks and Stones” last year. The new singles came a couple years after the band’s reunion in 2021, and while it was brand new material, reportedly not everyone was happy with it – from the band, to their management, to their fans. And so, the Mudvayne team quietly took matters into their own hands, reaching out to a brand new mixing engineer, by the name of Dave Fortman, and quietly re-uploading those new mixes to streaming platforms.
Originally mixed by Josh Wilbur, known for his work with Avenged Sevenfold, Bad Religion, Korn, Lamb of God, Trivium and more, feedback from fans indicated that they felt that the singles were supposed to be ‘demo’ releases, with a comment from who looks like Dave Fortman himself confirming his new involvement and the alleged reasons by it.
Fortman wrote the following in response to a fan’s suspicions on Mudvayne subreddit: “The original mixes weren’t demos. They were mixed by Josh Wilbur but the band wasn’t happy with the results and the fans were unhappy as well according to feedback I got from their management. They called me to remix them so I took the same approach that I mixed Lost And Found with. Seems to have worked! Glad you guys are digging it. I threw an entirely different spin on the intro and break of “Sticks And Stones” with added piano notes and strings. Nothing has been rerecorded thats just me laying some “tickles” in there. Enjoy!”
