UADA Announce Acoustic Album Interwoven, Share Haunting NIRVANA Cover

Enigmatic black metal masters Uada are peeling back the veil with the announcement of their upcoming acoustic album, Interwoven, due out April 10 via Eisenwald Records. A stark reimagining of the band’s legacy, the release traces one song from each chapter of Uada‘s discography while also paying tribute to artists who helped shape their sound.
To mark the announcement, Uada have unveiled a haunting acoustic rendition of Nirvana’s “Something in the Way,” accompanied by a new video. The video was filmed and edited by Karl Whinnery, directed by Jake Superchi, with Evan Gandy serving as co-director of photography, matching the song’s stark minimalism with equally bleak visuals.
Reflecting on the decision to include covers, which is something the band once swore off entirely: “When Uada was formed, a rule was set: no covers, in pursuit of carving a wholly independent voice. With Interwoven, we allowed ourselves to bend that rule. Recruiting a cellist for this project created a rare alignment — a moment to pay homage to one of the most formative and regional influences of my youth.”
They add: “While staying close to the original arrangement, we allowed our interpretation to take on its own bleak, glacial weight — one that echoes through the song’s timeless sorrow.”
That cello becomes a defining presence across Interwoven, lending cinematic gravity to acoustic versions of Uada staples like “Djinn,” “Devoid of Light,” and “The Dark Winter,” while also recontextualizing covers such as Rome‘s “Der Brandtaucher.” Interwoven is available for pre-order now, with cover art photographed by renowned metal photographer Peter Beste.
Uada and Mortiis are set to team up for a very special co-headlining North American tour in 2026 featuring exclusive anniversary sets and supporting performances by Jerome Reuter’s Rome and Wraith Knight.
Uada will be performing their seminal 2016 debut album Devoid of Light in its entirety and a special Ceremonial Castings 30-year anniversary set featuring Wraith Knight. In addition, Mortiis shall be performing songs from his groundbreaking 2001 full-length, The Smell Of Rain, along with other volumes of dystopian despair. Get your tickets here.
