Emma Mae – Boys In Bands

Leicester born and Cardiff based Emma Mae releases her first single of 2021. Making a name for herself in the Indie pop scene ‘Boys in Bands’ is the start of a conceptual adventure which I’m told is the beginning of something huge, if this is just the introduction then I’m certainly excited to hear the crescendo!‘

Boys in Bands’ paints a lyrical picture with lines like “another ex another break up text” telling the story of Emma’s not so romantic encounters. In my opinion this single has a more pop-punk edge to it with heavier guitar riffs sitting alongside the electronic drums, making for interesting listening in the style of early Demi Lovato crossed with Paramore. The song is incredibly catchy and fun even though it deals with matters of the heart and bad experiences.

‘Boys in Bands’ is an excellent song to kick off 2021 for Emma, it builds elegantly, the vocals are impressive and on the whole it’s a great song and something I’ll be adding to my own playlist when its released. ‘Boys in Bands’ is out on April 30th and is definitely worth a listen.
