Jordan Campbell (lead vocals) and Billy Taylor (drums, guitar, bass) are lifelong friends who form the powerhouse duo Paper Hands. Fusing rock with synth and pop sensibilities akin to the likes of Biffy Clyro and Maximo Park, these two are definitely ones to watch. After meeting as next door neighbours when their parents were in the air force at RAF Leaming in North Yorkshire, the pair started jamming together and the rest is history. Their musical sound takes inspiration from 80s influenced pop and nuanced new wave, to modern rock with layered angsty lyrics.
Paper Hands have just released their stellar track ‘Early Warning’ which is intense and haunting, accompanied by an equally vivid music video, which you can watch below.
“Early Warning started life as nothing but a voice note but became the catalyst for us creating Paper Hands. As a song it is a pure and honest exploration of styles bonded together by a signature rawness we aim to preserve. The way we write lyrics comes more from feeling than direct story telling, or anecdotal referencing and ‘Early Warning’ is not exempt from this. This means that even to us, the songs meaning can change from time to time depending on how you listen to it. It also leaves it open to interpretation from whoever chooses to listen to it.” BILLY TAYLOR
We expect the future is very bright for these two…
