Stars And Rabbit – Merry Alone
Indonesian duo Stars and Rabbit released their latest single ‘Merry Alone’ last Friday, a first taste from their forthcoming album, ‘On Different Days’.
Featuring Didit Saad’s charming, warm-toned surf rock guitars, the song reflects on the feeling of global loneliness that has been present on people throughout this first year of lockdowns. “At this point in time, have you ever felt irrelevant to the world around you? Disconnected. It left you a little lonely. How about knowing the truth, that you’re not the only one”, lead singer Elda Suryani wonders, “Will it make a difference? To be able to see, hear and feel the loneliness of others. Will it make you less lonely? By being alone together. Will it spark a smile even a little?”. And the song doesn’t fail to do so.
The song was released along with an animated music video directed by Merri Wijaya, where we are introduced to a star-shaped character living on an island, who meets a mysterious spheric shaped entity that irrupts with peace and tranquility. The short film works, we can intuit, as a metaphor for the virus and pandemic.
The duo’s fourth studio album, ‘On Different days’, will come out on June 25, via UK label Trapped Animal Records. If you enjoyed their latest single, make sure to check out the rest of their brilliant catalogue.
