Tucked In – Saturday
‘Saturday’ is the uptempo, positive opening track from New York band Tucked In’s first EP, ‘Elk’ which was released last Friday. It’s lyrics may be cheesy, but the happiness and its folk-pop sound are infectious.
Recorded in a mountain house in Pennsylvania in June (the EP is named after Elk Mountain), this is one of the best new tracks around. One of my favourite things which make ‘Saturday’ stand out is lead vocalist Gunnar Flinchum’s Robin Gibb-esque falsettos, which become more prominent in the second half of the song.
The rest of their ‘Elk’ EP is also pretty decent (‘Saturday’ inspired me to check out the rest of it), with a highlight being the rockier ‘Gardenia’.
With nearly 4,000 monthly listeners, but growing, if you haven’t heard of Tucked In before, now could be the time to start listening.
