IRON MAIDEN Vocalists BRUCE DICKINSON & PAUL DIANNO Finally Met Over The Weekend
Current Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson and former Iron Maiden vocalist Paul Di’Anno finally met one another over the weekend in Zagreb, Croatia!
Dickinson was in the Croatian capital promoting his new solo album The Mandrake Project and Di’Anno was doing the same for his new project, Paul Di’Annos’ Warhorse. The news came from Di’Anno‘s manager Stjepan Juras, who couldn’t be more stoked to bring together two legendary frontmen.
“When we thought that nothing could surprise us anymore in the heavy metal world, tonight’s ‘miracle’ in Zagreb proved us all wrong,” wrote Juras.
“Paul Di’Anno and Bruce Dickinson met for the first time and had a friendly chat right in Zagreb. By coincidence, Bruce is promoting his new album The Mandrake Project in Zagreb on tour on July 13, and on the same day, after Bruce‘s show, Paul Di’Anno had a live promotion and signing session for his first album with the Paul Di’Annos’ Warhorse project.
“This was an exceptional opportunity for the two icons of heavy metal music and the legendary singers of the band Iron Maiden to meet for the first time after almost half a century. This is an exceptional night for the entire Iron Maiden community and for metal fans around the world, because it shows that Iron Maiden and everyone who was in that band, is one big family.”
For those not up on their Iron Maiden history, Paul Di’Anno fronted the band between 1978 and 1981, and performed on both the band’s 1980 self-titled debut album and Killers from 1981. Iron Maiden and Di’Anno parted ways and replaced him with now-frontman Bruce Dickinson.
It should be noted that Di’Anno wasn’t Iron Maiden‘s founding vocalist – technically that belongs to the band’s first and very short-lived vocalist Paul Day, who was fired by founder bassist Steve Harris for lacking charisma.
