Overpass – Otherside Of Midnight

Overpass

‘Otherside of Midnight’ is the second single from Birmingham’s Overpass. It follows on from debut ‘One Night Lover’ as another fine slab of anthemic Indie-Rock. The song begins with an understated acoustic that sounds like it was recorded in a wardrobe on a dodgy mobile phone before the song bursts into life on the back of a gloriously joyous guitar line (absurdly I felt if this had been played on a fiddle the song would have been reminiscent of prime Wonderstuff – it has that let’s run to the dancefloor feel).

The upbeat intro is followed by an almost Kooks-ian verse before the bridge builds brilliantly into a huge chorus. It’s easy to envisage a room full of people singing along and the youthful exuberance of the band is encapsulated within that mighty chorus.

If anthemic indie is your cup of tea the ‘Otherside of Midnight’ will undoubtedly quench your thirst. Overpass are definitely headed in the right direction, already building up quite a following, and it’s easy to see with songs this strong that following only getting even larger.
